Lakai X Theories collection available exclusively at Welcome
If you're fan of the Static series and want to finesse your footwear game with Flare then rejoice - the Lakai X Theories collection is now available in the UK exclusively at Welcome Skate Store.
Centrepiece for the Lakai X Theories collection are two colourways of the Newport Low and Hi, a silhouette which takes design cues from Lakai's first ever vulcanised model, the Howard Select (cue The Cutter by Echo and The Bunnymen), accompanied by two t-shirts, a longsleeve tee, hoodie and dad cap featuring a spin on Theories’ ‘Theoromid’ graphic.
Newport Hi - £70 / Newport Low - £65
The Newport Low is constructed from a durable olive suede upper with a thinly padded perforated tongue to keep your feet cool and comfortable. The Newport High also boasts a suede toe piece but with a canvas side wall and tongue for lightweight performance and a heel pull tab for ease of access into the shoe. Both models are built on top of a vulcanised sole with Lakai X Theories embroidery and motifs are carried throughout the tongue, heel and inner lining. Finally, aligning with one of Theories' longest running graphics, Grigori Rastputin's creepy visage adorns in the insole of each shoe.
Theories of Atlantis was established by Static lens maestro Josh Stewart after the second instalment of the video series as a moniker for his distribution outfit.. Considered integral to the small brand renaissance of the early 2010s, TOA became the US hub for the once minor European players in the skateboarding industry including Polar Skate Co, Isle Skateboards, Magenta Skateboards and, briefly, Palace Skateboards.
Having dabbled with Theories of Atlantis merchandise for a number of years, after putting the Static series to bed with Static IV in 2014, Stewart was able to place further focus on TOA and carved out Theories as brand and entity separate to the distribution. Theories, the brand, maintains an aesthetic driven by Stewart's fascination with conspiracies and mysticism.
Marking the meeting of the two brands, Stewart has pieced together this short promo featuring Static alumni and Lakai heads Yonnie Cruz and Vincent Alvarez so get watching then scroll down browse the apparel side of the capsule and shop for the Lakai X Theories collection by clicking here.
