Village and Welcome Announce an Exclusive Collaboration Featuring an Iconic Peter Mitchell Photograph.
September 26th. 2025
The deck, released this week, showcases one of Mitchell’s unmistakable photographs - Frances Gavan, Ghost Train Ride, Woodhouse Moor, Leeds, 1977, rendered in his signature documentary style. Known for his evocative depictions of everyday British life, Mitchell’s work has long inspired both artists and locals alike. This collaboration marks the first time his imagery has been used on a skateboard, blending the worlds of fine art, independent publishing, and skateboard culture.
“We’ve always enjoyed Peter’s work and connecting to that through Village made perfect sense.” said Sam Barratt, co-founder of Welcome.
Village, a hub for contemporary art, photography, and countercultural publishing has previously exhibited Mitchell’s work and championed his contributions to visual culture. This project continues their mission to connect people through art in unexpected ways.
"By putting this image of Peter's on a deck, we wanted to make his work affordable, accessible, and open it up to a new audience who might encounter it while skating, hanging out, or just passing by. The image choice was our way of placing it back in the neighbourhood it was taken.” said Joe Torr, co-founder of Village.
The limited edition decks are available exclusively through Welcome and Village, both in-store and online. This deck is a celebration of independent spirit, local heritage, and creative cross-pollination - a tribute to a city that continues to inspire.
