PROPELLER: A Vans Skateboarding Video
"Every significant skateboarding video drops like a milestone, energizing the community by building on the legacy of its predecessors, beginning where the last one left off and taking up the baton for the culture to drive progression – propelling skateboarding forward."
Well, it's hard to believe but the wait is nearly over. We have a name and we have a time.
May 2015 will see the release of PROPELLER, Vans Footwear's first ever full length skateboarding video. Helmed by the outstanding videographer that is Greg Hunt (The DC Video, Mind Field) this is a skateboarding video not just four years in the making, but surely to be a iconic culmination of Vans contribution to skateboarding since 1966.
The impressive roster for the video is due to feature younger rippers such as Curren Caples, Elijah Berle, Rowan Zorilla and Gilbert Crockett alongside seasoned veterans Geoff Rowley, Anthony Van Engelen, Tony Trjullio, Dustin Dollin and with appearances from the outright legends that are John Cardiel, Jeff Grosso, Christian Hosoi, Steve Caballero, Ray Barbee and Tony Alva.
As we've already rounded up some of the previous video parts of a few of the several heavy hitters due to feature in the video, we have chosen just one of our favourite images of a certain son of Liverpool which so simply and effectively enforces how Vans have shaped skateboarding footwear over the years.
Meanwhile, click either of the below images to be taken to the official site where you can view a behind the scenes photo gallery and the trailer for PROPELLER itself.
When Geoff Rowley 5050'd the iconic Staples Centre hubba wearing a simple pair of Eras, he redefined and reignited what was thought of when it comes to a vulcanised shoe. Since it's conception, Vans has innovated the vulcanised skate shoe model like no other skateboard brand has, building timeless silhouette after silhouette onto their already iconic Waffle sole.
